Incense :
Since more time than anyone can remember, frankincense has been used for medicinal and religious purposes. The early Egyptians used incense as part of the mummification process, the Greeks used it as an antidote to hemlock poisoning, and the Chinese used it in trade as well as for internal and external purposes. Today, frankincense is mostly used in aromatherapy, but many people have recognized its anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and diuretic properties. Some medical research has shown a possible link between frankincense and the treatment of osteoporosis, and it may have some anti-cancer properties. Frankincense has also been shown to help with anxiety, disappointment, hysteria, emotional exhaustion, nervousness, congestion, anti-inflammatory, immunodeficiency, insomnia, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, aphrodisiac, emollient, indigestion, carminative, antiseptic, expectorant, sedative, tonic, and anti-tumor properties. Frankincense has been around since ancient times and is even mentioned in the Bible. The Jews served frankincense in ceremonies. Different regions seem to use frankincense for different reasons. The Chinese used frankincense to treat leprosy, and the Egyptians used it for women's eyelid pain, as a depilatory, and as a perfume. Frankincense's main contribution is to respiratory distress, and although it was once taken internally, it is no longer used more as an incense. When infused with its vapors, it can help with laryngitis. Frankincense comes from a tree called Boswellia Thurifera, which can be found in Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. To obtain the frankincense, they split the trunk of the tree and allow the resin to harden before harvesting it. Frankincense is commonly used in Wicca, a religion that practices magic. They use frankincense in perfumes and believe it aligns well with certain days such as Sunday and Wednesday. What Wicca calls a solar spell is associated with frankincense in the form of oil or herbs used in spells and formulas related to solar energy issues. These spells would be used for purposes such as physical energy, protection, success, and bringing an end to specific legal issues. When frankincense is used in the form of essential oils, it is very expensive and is usually diluted with other oils or jojoba oil. These combinations are also used by Wicca when casting spells. Some people prefer to replace frankincense with rosemary. Ironically, never forget that frankincense was one of the beautiful gifts brought by one of the Three Wise Men to baby Jesus on the night of his birth. It is also used to increase menstrual flow, treat syphilis, and treat unsightly scars, stretch marks, and breast cysts. Furthermore, it is used to treat acne, boils, and skin infections. Frankincense is an inedible herb and is not known to be used in any recipes, contrary to those who believe that frankincense is used in Indian cuisine. It is not known to be used in any cuisine at all, but it is extremely useful for aromatherapy practices.
